Delhi government pilot e-scooter project embarks on its journey in Dwarka

Delhi is famous for its smooth transport connectivity. However, commuters still need to cover long distances to reach the metro or bus stations. This means that almost the last and first-mile connectivity often creates inconvenience for travelers. Hence, to make traveling a little bit easier, the Delhi government is launching an e-scooter-sharing facility to improve transport connectivity in the city. The news is a ray of comfort for daily commuters aiding them to reach their destination with full ease.

The initiative by Delhi Government

The government is launching e-scooter stations in different parts of the city so that the citizens can reach their destinations easily and on time. The first 250 e- scooter stations set up will be installed in the Dwarka area of Delhi city. And around 1500 e-scooters will be made available to the public.

(i) Initially, a set of 500 scooters at 50 locations will be deployed in the first 4 months

(ii) During another subsequent 4 months, 500 more scooters will be made available.

(iii) And by the end of the year, 500 more scooters will be readily available in another 50 locations

The self-operating e-scooters will work as a connecting means between different stations. The user needs to hire the vehicle via an integrated pass available from the city buses and metro.

What will be the fare? Who will get the contract? And where will these e-scooters be stationed? The Delhi government has a well-defined plan for every aspect of the initiative.

Who will get the contract & What will be the fare?

The contract will be awarded for 7 years after observing success in the initial period of the plan. Additionally, the company demanding the lowest fare from the consumers will take responsibility for the project.

Where e-scooters will be stationed?

The e-scooter stations will be located near all the metro and bus stations in the Dwarka area. The self-driven scooters will be available with a helmet and swappable batteries that can run up to 60 kilometers with a single charge. Not to forget, the speed of the vehicle will be 60 kilometers per hour.

Besides, the advantages mentioned above, last-mile connectivity will help in the following ways

1. Decrease air pollution – When the citizens switch from private to public transport they will be using environmentally friendly vehicles instead of the ones running on petrol. This will encourage the use of chargeable automobiles hence protecting the climate and working for the overall well-being of the common public.

2. Reduce traffic congestion – E-Scooter is a reliable and more efficient means of transport. Be it reducing the number of transports running on the road or reducing emissions, the new system will help in reducing traffic bottlenecks.

3. Improve the quality of life – The initiative will save the common resident from the tiring experience and will also help to create more economic opportunities for local businesses, which will in turn create more jobs and stimulate the local economy. Finally, better access to essential services will help to improve the overall quality of life in the area.

The new pilot e-scooter project in Dwarka is a great step forward in improving public transportation in the area. It will provide a much-needed boost to the local economy and make it easier for residents to access essential services. The plan will also help reduce traffic congestion and pollution, making Dwarka a more livable city. The plan is a great example of how public transportation can be improved through innovative and sustainable solutions. With the implementation of this plan, Dwarka will become a more connected, efficient, and sustainable part of the city.
