Its been almost seven years since the world leaders decided on the 17 Global Sustainable Development goals. These goals can maneuver a healthier world by 2030, by ending and fighting inequality, removing poverty, and last but not least by addressing the urgency of climate change.
The focus of sustainable development goals is to steer ideas and initiatives with a larger impact and enhance the power of “leave no one behind”. The pillars generating the impact are backed by practical commitments, evidence, and actions.
An act of justice, eliminating poverty is the key to unlocking a massive human potential. We can join hands to feed the hungry, fulfill their requirements and provide them adequate tools for education.
This will help us to wipe out diseases towards a healthier tomorrow and give everyone a chance to flourish and live a productive and happy life.
Wiping out hunger and malnutrition from the face of the earth by 2030 is the second goal of SDGs. People across the world, especially children should have nourished and sufficient food all year round.
This can be achieved by promoting sustainable agricultural practices that will support small-scale farmers while providing equal and easy access to markets, land, and technology.
Advantages of sustainable development
Health is vital for the world to grow. The cost of treating diseases and illnesses is surprisingly huge while they are quite easy to prevent. The SDGs are promoting lifestyle changes and preventive measures with sustainable and modern healthcare for everyone.
SDGs ensure accomplishing quality education is the way towards sustainable development. Ensuring free primary and secondary schooling by 2030 and access to affordable vocational training to eliminate economic and gender disparities. The goals reaffirm the belief in achieving equal access to quality education.
As more and more women are achieving greater heights, the SDGs aids in creating a world of equality where women have equal rights on technology, land, property, and health.
Clean, affordable, and safe drinking water is one of the goals of sustainable development. With adequate investment in infrastructure that provides better sanitation facilities with a hygienic environment for everyone. Restoring our oceans and other water bodies is essential and we need to start today.
Improving the quality of our environment is one of the most vital goals we need to achieve by 2030. Proper investment in expanding infrastructure for solar, wind, oceanic, thermal and biogas energies will encourage a greener environment. Technological advancements are going to boost the growth of alternate energies.
Creating a decent work-life balance while not hurting our environment is a way to financial progress. Child labor and modern-day slavery are some of the few things that we need to eradicate from our ecosystem. Working on sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship will make sure that everyone benefits from enhanced banking and financial services.
Driving economic growth and development to attain sustainability through proper infrastructure investment is crucial for SDGs. Continuous demand for energy increases the dependence on renewable energy while creating a sustainable circular economy. As a result, the growth of better technological advancement in information and communication is going to be a path-breaking pillar for attaining the goals.
We have often heard this – “The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.” The wealth of the world is held by a very small population in the world and thus there is a huge disparity among the economic status of the people. SDGs seek to attain self-sufficiency for nations to flourish and prosperity should be available for everyone across race, religions, gender, and economic status.
To accommodate the ever-increasing population of the world, SDGs aim to build modern, hi-tech, and sustainable cities. Developing technologically advanced urban cities that provide safer, resilient, and affordable amenities for a green economy must be our aim to achieve this goal.
Efficiently managing the use of natural resources and disposing of toxic waste is hard to achieve but is one of the goals. Reduce, reuse, and recycle waste is going to be a vital arm in attaining a circular economy while supporting each other to move towards sustainable alternatives by 2030.
The world faces hundreds of billions of dollars on an average from climate-related disasters yearly. The human impact on our climate has had the most adverse effect since 1998. SDGs aim at providing 100 Billion dollars yearly to countries to adapt to climate change and invest in sustainable development.
The constant damage that humans are causing is far beyond reparable to aquatic life. The best we can do is to stop practicing activities that are harming our oceans by putting a tab on overfishing and eliminating pollution. The goal is to start managing and protecting marine life responsibly around the world.

The sustainable path that we have taken is going to significantly reduce violence in all its capacity across the world. SDG is focusing on supporting governments and communities to work towards ending conflicts and work towards peace and security.
Endorsing international trade and supporting countries to increase exports is one of the aims of SDG, which can provide an opportunity for an equitable trading system for all. The goal is to help countries manage their debt and promote adequate investment in sustainable growth and development.
These 17 Sustainable development goals are integrated and recognize that taking action in a comprehensive direction can help attain a sustainable world. Striking a balance between Socio-economic and ecological parameters can help achieve SDC in every manner.
Steered in the right direction by these goals, it is now upon us, to work towards building a better future for everyone. ADOPTED by 193 countries, sustainable goals have inspired their citizens across sectors, geographies, and cultures.
