Mr. Ghosh has been recognized as a “Thought Leader” a “Global C-Suite Sustainability Champion” and a “Top 50 Global Sustainability Leader”. Anirban has held roles in Sales, Marketing and Strategy in the Farm Business of Mahindra. He has served as the President of Mahindra USA and has been on the Board of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers in the US. Anirban has delivered guest lectures at many business schools such as Harvard, INSEAD, and IIMs at Ahmedabad, Indore, and Kozhikode.

Mr Anirban Ghosh has been with the Mahindra Group since 1999 where he heads the Centre for Sustainability at the Mahindra University. He was the Group’s Chief Sustainability Officer prior to this assignment. Having shaped Mahindra’s sustainability framework, he guided the Group to make ambitious climate commitments and enabled accelerated achievement of goals.
During a recent interview with Renewable India, Mr. Anirban Ghosh, shared his intriguing path towards sustainability. As the head of a watershed development project, he initially viewed it through a business lens, which ultimately led him towards sustainability.
He also highlighted the remarkable progress made by Mahindra University in terms of sustainability. Despite being a young campus, it is swiftly adopting eco-friendly measures, such as installing energy-efficient lights and air conditioners, and working towards achieving a net-zero campus.
As a Sustainability Champion Mr. Ghosh emphasized the significance of integrating sustainability courses into various fields like engineering, management, and law to give students a comprehensive understanding of sustainability. He stressed the importance of considering marginalized communities while transitioning to renewable energy.
Mr. Ghosh also shared his National award-winning rural development project, which transformed the lives of 20,000 people across 32 villages in Madhya Pradesh by tripling their per capita income. Additionally, he discussed the sustainability housing leadership project, a collaboration with India’s top five developers, to facilitate the creation of more green buildings across the country.
